Project Overview

Mid-Columbia Libraries (MCLS) expanding mission and new marketing and branding initiatives required them to rethink their presence on the web.

They needed a fresh approach that would help them serve a diverse community (over 200,000 residents) as well as meet the needs of eleven branches and a large Spanish speaking population.

Goals

Fuse IQ needed to understand and fully incorporate the new MCL branding efforts - the site had to reflect the essence of this direction.

MCL and Fuse IQ worked collaboratively to define user types and roles to understand usage and navigation requirements. The site needed to address the Spanish speaking pupulation, and the specific groups of children and teens.

Internally staff had to be able to effectively update and manage the site on a daily basis and have thorough training.

Approach

  • User Experience Analysis

  • Content Analysis

  • Information Architecture Development

  • Web Design

  • Content Management System (Drupal) Implementation

Results

MCL and Fuse IQ are very proud and pleased with our collaboration and the results. Visitation and usage is up significantly, users have many new site tools including the ability get daily feeds of staff selected titles to “grow the mind”, and the new site addresses the significant Spanish speaking population. Each of the eleven branches has their own pages including respective calendar of events and news.
